Editing the PREFS.JS file

Question:

How can I edit the prefs.js file? When I try to open the prefs.js file by double clicking it, I get the following error:

Windows Scripting Host - Security Execution Error

Script: (Path to the prefs.js file)
Line Number:      ....
Category:             ....
Description:         ....

Answer:

This error indicates that Windows Scripting Host is currently set up as the default application to open .js files. The error occurs because prefs.js isn't a Windows Script file. Use Notepad to edit the file instead. There are several ways to open the prefs.js file in Notepad:

Before editing the prefs.js file, you must first ensure that Netscape is closed.

Launch Notepad, go to the File menu, select Open, and navigate to the prefs.js file.

        OR

Drag and drop the prefs.js file on top of an open Notepad window (or the Notepad icon).
